Producers Report Siphoning of Fuel
The
Ontario Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (OSSGA) has recently
been alerted to a series of fuel thefts in the Stouffville area,
just north of Toronto.
According
to several reports from local aggregate producers, thieves with
self-contained vans and pumps operate at night by cutting off
the fill pipe lock, dropping down a pump and siphoning what they
can - in some cases as much as 22,000 litres of fuel.
The OSSGA
is advising its members to render fill pipes inaccessible by parking
heaving equipment at strategic locations.
Ballooning
fuel prices are being blamed for the recent spike in thefts across
the province.
